Behavioral modeling of delta-sigma modulators
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper presents an overview of DelSi, a MATLAB toolbox developed for the design and simulation of delta–sigma modulators. The DelSi toolbox can synthesize a stable noise-transfer function for complex network structures. The modelling tool consists of two crc programs, sdMod.c, a single stage delta–sigma modulator and firfilt.c, a decimating FIR filter. Cascaded modulators can be constructed using the programs as building blocks. The simulation tools support the inclusion of nonideal effects caused by circuit imperfections, such as amplifier finite open-loop gain, incomplete settling and saturation as well as capacitor ratio mismatches. Two design examples are presented: one for a 1–1–1 cascade and the other for a single-stage fifth modulator. q 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

Time-Mode Signal Quantization for Use in Sigma-Delta Modulators
The rapid scaling in modern CMOS technology has motivated the researchers to design new analog-to-digital converter (ADC) architectures that can properly work in lower supply voltage. An exchanging the data quantization procedure from the amplitude to the time domain, can be a promising alternative well adapt with the technology scaling. This paper is going to review the recent development in t...
متن کاملDecrease in Hardware Consumption and Quantization Noise of Digital Delta-Sigma Modulators and Implementation by VHDL
A new structure is presented for digital delta-sigma modulator (DDSM). Novel architecture decreases hardware consumption, output quantization noise and spurs in Comparison to previous architectures. In order to reduce the delay, power consumption and increase maximum working frequency, the pipelining technique and the carry skip adder are used. Simulation proposed architecture shows that the qu...

A behavioral model of a second order switchedcapacitor Sigma-Delta modulator is presented. The purpose of this work is the presentation of a behavioral model of a second order switched capacitor ΣΔ modulator considering (Error due to Clock Jitter, Thermal noise Amplifier Noise, Amplifier Slew-Rate, Non linearity of amplifiers, Gain error, Charge Injection, Clock Feedthrough, and Nonlinear on-re...
متن کاملDesign considerations for band-pass sigma delta modulators
The transition from the system level to the transistor level design of sigma delta modulator involves degradation in performance due to circuit imperfections, the extent of which depends on the architecture. A systematic understanding of the sensitivity is essential to accomplish a robust design. Smart behavioral modeling allows us to compare architectures and to derive minimum specifications f...
متن کاملBehavioral modeling of continuous time ∆Σ modulators
A mixed-signal continuous time behavioral model of a continuous time delta-sigma modulator (CT ∆Σ) is presented. CT ∆Σ modulators, by their nature, are mixed-signal systems. That fact creates a discontinuity in the traditional IC design flow which assumes that “discrete” and “continuous” time domain designs require separate design tools. In this work, we present a top level behavioral CT ∆Σ mod...
